Why are many municipalities establishing central property units?
What are the advantages in using company hotels and entrepreneur incubators?
How do future offices look like according to the Danish Palaces and Properties Agency?
Why does the housing association FSB name itself Denmark´s most environmentally friendly housing association?
The above are examples of the many questions to which this book gives answers. They are all related to the topic Facilities Management (FM)), and the book includes 36 different cases from the Nordic countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland with emphasis on Danish cases. Best Practice is used as a term for the practice which is used at spearhead companies, and when you read the book you will gain insight into present FM practice and innovation efforts.
The book addresses both students and practicians within FM. It is not a text book, but it includes a number of specific examples from the real world which make a good supplement to more theoretical and general introductions to the topic. Hence the book is also a useful tool for knowledge sharing among practicians who want to find inspiration with other companies.
The main topics in the book are FM concepts, collaboration between demand and supply, space
utilisation, technology and infrastructure, and environment. Besides the 36 cases the book includes introductions to each main topic and theme, an introduction about the selection of cases, an introduction to FM in the Nordic countries and a thematic summary and a summary of cross-cutting issues which is finished by presentation of a so-called FM Value Map illustrating how FM can create value to companies and society.
Associate professor Per Anker Jensen, DTU Management has edited and is the main author
of the book. Furthermore architect m.a.a. Kjeld Nielsen, FAM-consult and associate professor Susanne Balslev Nielsen, DTU Management were responsible to the preparation of a number of cases.
The book is issued by Centre for Facilities Management Realdania Research, which was established at DTU in 2008.
The book is issued simultaneously in Danish and English. The publication of the book has been subsidised by the two private Danish foundations BoligfondenKuben and Realdania.
